Official Government Website

If you are low-income and need a lawyer for a civil matter, IVLP may be able to help. Using a statewide network of volunteer attorneys, IVLP provides free civil legal assistance through advice and consultation, brief legal service and representation.

If it is determined that you may be eligible, you will be required to complete a financial qualification, and an in depth phone interview.

IVLP does not have attorneys on staff and relies on attorneys in the community to volunteer their time and expertise. We are not an emergency program; it may take a few weeks to get through the application process. In some instances, IVLP will not be able to assist and you may be referred to other services, resources or collaborative partners.

Advice and Counsel Clinics

IVLP Legal Clinics offer an opportunity to receive a half hour of free advice and counsel on your civil legal issue. Clinic attorneys can offer a legal review and consultation on your situation, and assistance with completing self help forms.

Clinics require an appointment. You can view the clinic calendar and request an appointment at the link below. If you are flexible with the location, you may select multiple clinics and be given options based on availability. Please note: for scheduling and volunteer recruitment, registration closes 24 hours before the clinic date/time. If registration has closed, you will be contacted regarding a wait list or other clinic options.
